On July 3, 2011, he signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

After the season, he once again became a free agent.

Valábik signed with HC Kometa Brno of the Czech Extraliga on August 14, 2012. He then asked for his release in early January.

Valábik signed with the Portland Pirates of the AHL on January 11, 2013, helping the team reach the playoffs.

The Pirates lost to the Syracuse Crunch in the Eastern Conference quarter-finals.

Valabik signed for the Blaze at the start of the 2015-2016 season. He was promptly named an Alternate Captain.
