Sonya Eddy’s Death
General Hospital actress Sonya Eddy died on December 19, 2022, at the age of 55. Her death was confirmed by her friend and actress Octavia Spencer with a heartbreaking statement.
Spencer was the first to publicly shared the news of Eddy’s demise. Later on, “General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini also confirmed her death in a separate statement saying that he was “heartbroken about the loss”.
The cause of Sonya Eddy’s death has now officially been made public days after her passing.
Her producing partner and close friend Tyler Ford confirmed to TMZ that Sonya died from an infection after surgery.
Ford went on to explain that the ‘General Hospital’ alum had a non-emergency scheduled surgery on the 9th of December.
He said she was then released from the hospital on the 11th, however, Eddy began to feel ill and returned to the hospital on the 15th.
It was at that moment that doctors discovered Eddy had developed an infection that became uncontainable. After she has been placed on life support for less than a day, Sonya passed away.
