Who are the parents of Maya Jupiter?

Maya Jupiter was born Melissa Martinez on the 21st of December 1978 in La Paz, Mexico. Her father is Mexican, and her mother is Turkish.

Her parents moved to Melbourne, Victoria when she was one year. Later, they went to Sydney when she was four years.

She was raised along with her elder sister in Busby, Sydney. Her family environment always inspired her to become a singer.

During primary school, she was the Captain of her school. Also, in her secondary school, she was the Prefect and Sports Captain.

Maya Jupiter- Career

Maya Jupiter started her career at the age of 18 as a performer in an R&B club, in Sydney. She adopted her stage name Maya Jupiter, which reflects her Mayan heritage.

Later, in 1988, she learned more about Australian hip hop at Urban Xpressions Festival. During the time, she was highly inspired by the Australian Hip-POP activist, MC Trey.

In 2003, she released her first album, Today under the recording label mother tongue. The track, Mamacita of Today was dedicated to her own mother. Some of her albums along with the year are-

In 2003, she performed in her first music festival the Bellingen Global Music Festival in association with the Latin band, Son Veneno. She also performed in the music festival including Homebake and Bacardi Festival with the band.

Later, in 2006, she joined the Hip-hop band, Foreign Heights which includes rap artists like MC Trey and DJ Nick Toth.

Together, they released their self-titled debut album in Australia. They also performed in the music festival, Big Day Out.
