There he was assigned to the Tuskegee Airmen program. Roberts use to fly the Piper Cubs, North American B-25 Mitchell bombers, and also Douglas C-54.

These Skymaster uses to transport North American F-86 Sabre and fighter jets.

And Lawrence E. Roberts there served as an instructor in Tuskegee University’s Air Force ROTC program from the year 1958 to 1960.

Talking about his later works,  Roberts was one of the founding members of the Keesler Air Force Base Gospel Service.

It is the oldest Gospel service in the United States Air Force. It is the only Mississippi chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen Club named in his honor.

In the year 2004, the Mississippi Legislature drafted a resolution honoring his life.

And consequently, on March 29, 2007, he posthumously received the Congressional Gold Medal just after his death.

Lawrence E. Roberts helped President Harry S. Truman to desegregate armed forces.

Likewise, on September 10, 2009, a new consolidated aircraft maintenance facility for the 403rd Wing at Keesler AFB was dedicated and named in Roberts’s honor.
