The great comedian, Josie Long was born on 17 April 1982 in Sidcup, England. But she had spent her early life in Orpington, London, where she attended Newstead Wood School for Girls and was in Swift House.

When she was at the age of 14, she began performing as a comedian. She had won the BBC New Comedy Awards at the age of 17. She had also attended Michael Knighton’s comedy course in Beckenham, Kent.

And when she turned 18,  she gave up stand-up whilst attending Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford, though she ran experimental comedy clubs while at university, and graduated with a degree in English.

In 2009 Josie Long toured her show All of the Planet’s Wonders, playing 14 dates during February and March. Similarly, from 2010-2012 she had been nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show three times, Be Honourable!, The Future Is Another Place, and Romance & Adventure. In 2010, she has been involved with the anti–tax-avoidance activist group UK Uncut.

But in 2011, she had occasion promoted these groups through her stand-up and has also performed stand-up at protests. Since 2013 Josie Long had been the presenter on BBC Radio 4’s Short Cuts. She had also appeared on television from 2009-2016. In 2009 she appeared in Maeve Higgins’ Fancy Vittles, The Bubble in 2010, The Matt Lucas Awards in 2013, Fifteen to One in 2014, Celebrity Fifteen to One in 2015, and Dara O’Briain’s Go 8-Bit in 2016.
