She is known for starring as Kelly Taylor throughout the Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise (1990–2000).

She is also popular for her role as Valerie Tyler in the sitcom What I Like About You (2002–06). In 2012, she starred in her own reality show, Jennie Garth: A Little Bit Country on CMT.
