Huang Xiaoming started his career in 1984. Huang was initially chosen by a producer to star in a drama as a child actor but was dropped later because of his shy and introverted personality in 1984. In 1996, he auditioned for Beijing Film Academy and joined in a similar year. He later debuted the drama Love is Not a Game in 1998.
