In his amateur debut on April 3, 2014, he easily defeated Alexander Chernikh. Dmitriy Makarov, Magomed Tsechoev, and two other MMA fighters were eventually defeated.
On December 20, 2014, he lost for the first time to Ramazan Sulebanov. He then lost to Salamat Isbulaev and Magomed Mamaev, two other fighters.
After three consecutive losses, he decided to turn professional. In his professional debut, he defeated David Bacskai via TKO.
Later, he defeated fighters such Eldar Magomedov, Sergei Andreev, Fraud Aliev, and Pedro Eugenio Granja. He fought Ramazan Esenbaev again on September 20, 2015, but lost. Regardless, he remained strong and never gave up hope.
His next fight was against Javier Fuentes, whom he defeated via TKO. Since then, he has never looked back, winning every war he has fought. He defeated Maxim Divnich on May 26, 2017, to claim the vacant M-1 Lightweight Championship.
Damir had a 19-1-0 professional record as of June 2021, with 9 knockouts, 1 submission, and the rest coming via decision.
