Early Life
Christoper Lee was born Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee on May 27, 1922, in Belgravia, London, England. He was the son of Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Trollope Lee of the 60th King’s Royal Rifle Corps and his wife, Countess Estelle Marine. Also, he had one sibling named Xandra Carandini Lee.
When Lee was four years old, his parents separated and divorced two years later. At that time, his mother took him and his sister to Wengen in Switzerland. After that, he enrolled in Miss Fisher’s Academy in Territet, where he played his first role as Rumpelstiltskin.
Then after some years, they moved back to London, and Lee began to attend Wagner’s private school in Queen’s Gate. During that time, his mother married Harcourt George St-Croix Rose, a banker and uncle of Ian Fleming, who was an author of the James bond novels. After his mother’s marriage, the family moved to Fulham, living next door to the actor Eric Maturin.
When Lee turned nine, he was sent to Summer Fields School, a preparatory school in Oxford whose pupils often later attended Eton. Later, he attended Wellington College for his higher education.
Personal Life
Lee was married to his long-time girlfriend turned wife, Birgit Kroncke Lee. Christoper and Birgit met in 1960. The couple was introduced by one of his friends, Danish, who was a painter. Soon after the meeting, the couple was engaged, and after a year, they got married on March 17, 1961.
The couple shares one daughter named Christina Erika Carandini Lee from their long marriage span. Furthermore, Christina was born in 1963, two years after the marriage of Christoper and Birgit. Prior, Lee was engaged to Henriette Von Rosen, whom he met at a nightclub in Stockholm in 1950. During that time, the two fell in love, and a few years later, the couple was married.
However, Henriette’s father, Count Fritz von Rosen, proved demanding to get them to delay the wedding for a year. Unfortunately, the ex-couple called off their engagement later.
