Hart and Dylan Wells of the Peterborough Petes were chosen to represent Hockey Canada at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament as goalies. He started the tournament with 15 saves against the Czech Republic for a 3–1 victory.

In his first game of the competition, Carter Hart played against Denmark in the Group A preliminary round. He combined with Mackenzie Blackwood to produce 22 saves in 50 minutes, earning the shutout. After defeating Finland 3-1 to win the silver medal, Canada moved on to the gold medal round.
