On 9 December 2011, he signed a three-year contract extension worth $12 million with the Heat. He has won twice NBA Championship with Heat in 2012 and 2013.

On 14 July 2014, Mario Chalmers again resigned with the Heat and he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies on 10 November 2015. He played for that team till 2019. After that, this player joined Virtus Bologna.
